A few weeks ago, my best mate Simon was critically injured in a bike accident. For a while the prognosis was touch and go, but thankfully the doctors now think it likely that he will be able to make a full recovery, although he is likely to need a substantial time to recuperate.
Like me, Simon has a young family and once I had recovered from the shock of seeing him in hospital, I began to consider his situation. How would he cope without being able to work for such a long period of time?

How I feel now

Feeling more secure about our future, I proposed to my partner shortly afterwards, and we are now planning to get married next year.
